Dr. Sivapalan Vivekarajah
Dr. Siva has been an Entrepreneur and Angel Investor over the last 35 years and has a Ph.D in Venture Capital from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, MBA with Distinction from University of Hull, UK and LLB (Hons) from the University of London.
He is the Immediate Past President of the Malaysian Business Angels Network (MBAN), the Association that represents high net worth Angel investors in Malaysia. He was also on the Management Committee of the Malaysian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (MVCA) for 10 years until 2018. He was also the Founder & 1st President of TeAM, the Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia.
In January 2019, Dr. Siva was appointed Chairman of the Ministerial Task Force (TF) on Technopreneur Funding, by the Honorable (YB) Ms. Yeo Bee Yin, the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC). The role of the TF was to provide recommendations to restructure the 5 biggest government funding agencies under the Ministry.
Additionally, in April 2019, Dr. Siva was appointed to the “Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Development Council (MVCDC)” by the Minister of Finance, Malaysia. The Council is led by the Chairman of the Securities Commission and is entrusted with further developing the venture capital and private equity industry.
He also sits on the Malaysian Innovation Policy Council (MIPC), under the auspices of the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia. MIPC has been formed to review and propose policy and regulatory changes to enable innovation to flourish in Malaysia.
Dr. Siva is an active Angel Investor and has investments in technology companies in the edtech, proptech, travel, automotive, medical device and Internet industry. He is also the Chief Investor of Proficeo Ventures Sdn Bhd an Angel investment company with more than 15 startup investments. Some of his investments have gone on to receive Series A and B funding and are regional companies.
He is also Co-Founder and Chief Evangelist of Proficeo Consultants, an Entrepreneur Coaching & Mentoring company that has coached more than 2,000 entrepreneurs in Malaysia over the last 10 years including the highly successful “Coach & Grow Program” (CGP) under Cradle Fund and the Ministry of Finance and the “eUsahawan Level Up Program” for micro Entrepreneurs under MDEC.
